All right, I'll be right there.

[Alcohol, okay then. He can do an alcoholic drink.

He shows up a few minutes later, and he surveys the scientific apparatus hanging out on the bartop curiously.]

Are those for your drink?

[Funny to assume that it's alcohol. If Chase notices the laminated menu on the counter, the drinks are strictly non-alcoholic. Chris is a bit straight edge, which is both a blessing to the Barge, and a curse on those who would want to order alcohol from the teen.

He refuses to serve it himself.]

They are! If I want to craft something, I have to get the measurements precise, or else what's the point of having a recipe?

[Except when he is given a recipe and doesnt follow it because he thinks he sees a better way.

He pushes a glass forward filled with a strangely colored liquid. It isnt smoking, but it looks almost milky in color. And in actuality it is a Huckleberry cream sparkling soda, delicious despite the odd look of it.

Christopher bounces on his heels waiting for Chase's review.]

You're really serious about your drinks.

[Chase sounds amused, though, and he accepts the drink without hesitation, giving it a curious sniff before trying a mouthful. If the guy poisons him, he'll just come back to life in a few minutes, anyway, and then take away his toys so he can't do it again.

It doesn't taste like poison. It tastes pretty cool.]

Sweet. And fizzy. I have no idea what that flavor is, besides the cream soda part.

No, Im serious about science. Baking and mixology is still science.

[He watches the other boy try his drink and smiles when he doesnt immediately gag. Its going over better than the pickle sparkling lemonade, at least, and that had made the menu.]

Huckleberry. I could probably cut it with something if its too sweet...

Got it. I mean, I treat magic kind of like science, but I don't do alchemy-type magic so I'm not playing with bottles and bunsen burners or anything.

[He waves the drink a little, careful not to spill it.]

I'm all about energy and intention and stuff.

[Then he has more of the drink drink, trying to identify "huckleberry". The problem is he's never had huckleberry before. Now he's forever going to label this sweet flavor as "huckleberry".]

Well, anyway, it's good, if you like something really sweet. Not everyone will, but that's why you have a whole menu I guess. What else is on it?

I don't play, it's all very serious work. [He mumbles, though he puts his chin in his hand, tilting his head.]

I haven't seen much magic. Mostly just mad science, but I did see a magic mural once. It held the ancestors of the witch family who created it. Clement was very nice... And it was super cool to think that magic could create an eternal afterlife for the souls of that family by blood or bond.

[He is aware that not everyone likes sweet, it's why this is the first sweet thing he'd added to the menu, it's very wide reaching, he thinks. Which should be great for making sure there's something for everyone!

He looks down at the menu, reading off it-]

So far? Fig, rosemary and fennel infused water and Pickle lemonade.

Okay, pickle lemonade is a weird choice, but the fig one sounds downright festive.

[He shakes his head a little.]

Magic murals with souls attached are bigger than I can do, right now. I did create a living mouse and a couple tarantulas, though. I'm working up to a human body.

Pickle juice is actually full of electrolytes and paired with lemonade is supposed to be incredibly refreshing after a work out. [Chris does not work out, but it was weird enough he gave it a chance and actually liked the combo.

But then Chase has to mention creating human bodies and his interest is completely pulled away from talking about work.]

You can create creatures from nothing?

Facinating... I brought Peggy back to life, but i wasn't able to replicate it... she got hit by a truck, it was awful.

Shes fine now though!

It might be good for you, but it sounds like it tastes gross.

[He shifts and holds up a hand, letting a spider form up on his palm.]

Started with these. They're temporary, spell-flesh, powered by a tiny demon spirit. I've been able to summon these ever since my magic came in. I can do bigger spirits, but not here, this place isn't really connected to the world the way where I come from is.

[Christopher watches as the spider comes to be, mouth slightly open, eyes wide before he blinks a few times, frowns and hits his head with the heel of his hand as if attempting to knock something in place.]

Come on, I want to-

[And like a flashlight you hit to get the batteries to work, his eyes blow out blue and flicker with a sort of electrical energy.

He smiles big, satisfied before waving his hand at Chase, come on, lets see it!]

Do it again, I want to watch it happen.

[Chase looks amused, but he's run into that reaction before, so he lets the spider dissolve into ash on his palm, then the ash disappears, too.]

One, two, three.

[Bam, new spider. It forms up in the span of about a second, looking like it's forming up from ash the same way the first one disappeared. He is in fact summoning a tiny demonic spirit, an "imp", mostly brainless and more of a source of power than anything else, and the spider's form is solid magic.]

My eyes used to do weird things, too. I fixed that with my deal. They'd go all black whenever I used magic. What's that mean, when yours do that?

[Chris watches intently as he counts down, can see the way the magic forms in his hand, eyes wide. He hasn't gotten to see much magic aside from the spirits in Viveka's choker, and he is fascinated by it. The colors and glass strands that seem to connect before the blue stutters out and his eyes are their normal blue again.

He is a little distracted, but he does look from the spider to chase when he's asked.]

Oh, it's- I can see your magic, what it looks like, what anyone looks like...see the math that makes up your clothes, the chair... [He gestures around, to the whole room.] I can't control it, but it's beautiful, all of it...

And sometimes I can see how to make things better if I look at it long enough.
